Η 98η τελετή των Academy Awards στο Dolby Theatre του Los Angeles χάρισε στο κοινό μια βραδιά γεμάτη λάμψη, έντονα συναισθήματα και στιγμές που ήδη συζητιούνται στα social media. Εντυπωσιακές εμφανίσεις στο κόκκινο χαλί, απρόβλεπτες εξελίξεις στις μεγάλες κατηγορίες και συγκινητικές ομιλίες συνέθεσαν μια από τις πιο πολυσυζητημένες τελετές των τελευταίων ετών.

Στο τιμόνι της παρουσίασης βρέθηκε για δεύτερη συνεχόμενη χρονιά ο Conan O’Brien, ο οποίος άνοιξε τη βραδιά με έναν καυστικό και σατιρικό μονόλογο, γεμάτο χιούμορ αλλά και αιχμές για το Χόλιγουντ και την επικαιρότητα.
Όσον αφορά την ελληνική παρουσία, ο Γιώργος Λάνθιμος δεν κατάφερε να αποσπάσει κάποιο βραβείο με την ταινία Bugonia. Ωστόσο, ελληνικό «άρωμα» υπήρξε στους φετινούς νικητές, καθώς η ελληνικής καταγωγής Κασσάνδρα Κουλουκουντής κέρδισε το Όσκαρ στην κατηγορία Casting για την ταινία One Battle After Another.
